Geriatric Oncology is a globally emerging speciality, driven by the aging demographic of the cancer population. The treatment of cancer in older patients is complex requiring the input of multiple specialities including geriatricians, surgical, radiation and medical oncologists.

The Irish Geriatric Oncology Meeting 2025 will be held on Saturday, 5th April in the Herbert Park Hotel, Ballsbridge, Dublin. This meeting has been organised by a team of specialists, led by Dr. Anne Horgan, Consultant Medical Oncologist at Waterford University Hospital. The meeting aims to foster increased clinical and research collaboration between the various specialities and institutions involved in treating the older cancer patient in Ireland.

​The meeting will have an audience comprising geriatricians, surgical, medical and radiation oncologists and allied health professionals with an interest in this field. There will be both national and international speakers. This annual event serves as an introduction and broad overview of the area and aims to support the development of this specialised and growing field in Ireland into the future.
