Dr Amanda Lavan
Dr Amanda Lavan MB FRCPI BSc MSc PhD is a consultant geriatrician at St James’s Hospital. She is a graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin. She completed higher speciality training in Geriatric Medicine in 2020. During her training she was awarded a PhD from UCC entitled “Targets for Deprescribing in High Risk Older Adults”.
While working at St James’s Hospital she completed a Masters in Health Service Management with Trinity College Dublin. In 2021, she was appointed a senior clinical lecturer with Trinity College Dublin. She is currently co-chair of the Drugs and Therapeutics Committee at St James’s hospital and as of April 2024 was appointed the NCCP co-Lead in Geriatric Oncology. She is a member of the Irish Gerontology Society committee and serves as chair for the scientific committee.
She has publications in the area of clinical pharmacology, geriatric oncology and falls and syncope.
