Dr. Christopher Cluxton

Dr. Christopher Cluxton is a graduate of Queen’s University Belfast Medical School and currently a Medical Oncology Specialist Registrar based at University Hospital Waterford. He holds a PhD in Immunology from Trinity College Dublin, where he previously conducted postdoctoral research in cancer immunology.

His academic background also includes a BSc in Natural Sciences (Genetics), a Diploma in Statistics, and certification in Essential Palliative Care. Dr. Cluxton’s research has spanned cellular immunology, immune evasion mechanisms in cancer, and the impact of platelet cloaking on natural killer cell function and metastasis. He has presented his work nationally and internationally, receiving awards including the ISMO Travel Bursary for his research on proteomic biomarkers of immunotherapy toxicity.

His clinical interests include gastrointestinal and thoracic malignancies, with recent research focusing on outcomes in older adults. Dr. Cluxton has completed ESMO preceptorships in lung and breast cancer and maintains a focus on integrating translational research into oncology practice.
