Dr Diarmuid O’Shea
Dr Diarmuid O’Shea, MD FRCPI, is the President of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI). He is a Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine in St Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin, Ireland. A graduate of University College Dublin.
He completed his MD in Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee. He trained in General Internal and Geriatric Medicine in the RVI and Freeman Hospitals, Newcastle, United Kingdom He was the National Specialty Director for Geriatric Medicine, Clinical Lead for the National Clinical Programme for Older People with the HSE until 2019 and Chair of the Irish Committee on Higher Medical Training from 2017 to 2019.
He has held a number of roles in the RCPI including the position of Vice-President of Education and Professional Development, Masterclass Series Convenor and Registrar from 2014 to 2021. He is a former President of The Irish Gerontological Society of Ireland and elected the 143 rd President of the RCPI in 2023.
